We enjoyed a good weekend on and off the field of play this weekend.

On Friday evening we were delighted to travel to Templetuohy to take part in the Martin Costigan Memorial Tournament.  Although the home team emerged victorious on the night we were honoured to take part in this tiurnament as Martin was such a good friend to so many in our club.  Our thanks to Moyne-Templetuohy GAA Club for the invitation and for the fantastic hospitality on the night.

On Saturday evening, our Junior Footballers commenced their championship campaign with a good win against Gortnahoe-Glengoole in Gortnahoe on a scoreline of 4-14 to 0-8.

On Monday evening our Senior Hurlers made the journey to Kilcolman to take on Burgess in the County Senior Hurling League.  Though short many regulars through exams, county commitments and injuries and in spite of the concession of 3 first half goals, we fought back strongly in the second half to reduce the gap to just 3 points with time just up.  Darren Russell was the hero of the hour when his well-struck free in the dying seconds rattled the Burgess net ensuring we came away with a share of the points.  The final score was JK Brackens 1-20, Burgess 4-11.

Team: Darren Russell (1-1f), Jack Fogarty, Cathal Scully, Aidan Coffey, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Jordan Moloney, Keith Kennedy, David O’ Shea (0-4), Lyndon Fairbrother (0-7, 4f, 1 65), Shane Scully (0-2), Adrian Bourke (0-1), Radek Natkaneicz, Jack Kennedy (0-2), Dylan Moloney (0-2), Paul Hanley.

Subs: Shane Doyle (0-1) for Radek Natkaneicz, Brian Roche for Paul Hanley, Tom Murphy for Adrian Bourke, Niall Martin for Jack Kennedy

On Monday afternoon our Annual Devil's Bit Walk took place in glorious sunshine.  Thanks to the large crowd of walkers who turned out and also all those who gave sponsorship towards getting out teams to National Féile finals inboth hurling and football this month.  Thanksalos to all those who helped out with our bag-pack in Centra this weekend.

Best wishes to the U14 hurling team and management who travel to Spiddal this weekend for the Féile finals, no doubt an experience that will be thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

Best wishes also to all our players and club members doing Leaving and Junior Cert Exams in the coming weeks
