Our Junior A hurlers contest the clubs first Mid final since 1998 on Saturday, when they take on Holycross in Gortnahoe (please note fixture change). In fact the club have only contested two finals since its formation in 1992. John Maher was the first Brackens captain to lift the PJ O'Brien cup in 1997 following a cracking contest with Drom & Inch. That team were defeated by Toomevara in the county semi-final. Brackens retained the title twelve months later when Seanie Percy led us to victory, with Drom again the victims. They went on to contest the County final that year but were defeated by Moyle Rovers in a replay. There has been little success in the interim but let's hope that come 5pm on Saturday evening Brackens will have landed their third crown. We encourage all our club supporters, young and old, to head for Gortnahhoe and shout on the boys. We send our very best wishes to Pat Butler and his management team and to team captain Tadhg Nolan and the panel. Brackens Abu.
