Well done to everyone that attended and participated in the “ Ahead of the Game Programme “ on the 22nd January 2024, held at the JK Brackens GAA clubhouse. This training and education programme is a unique partnership within the GAA bringing the mental health literacy programme to members within our club.
The workshop involved two one hour sessions, one for U-15 players and one for their support network of parents, coaches, and volunteers.
Many thanks and appreciation to Carol O Leary ( Clare Co. Camogie / Footballer & Saoirse McCarthy Cork Co. Camogie , for their wonderful presentation and enthusiastic insight into this Mental health programme.
Ahead of the Game is the most evidence-based youth sport mental health literacy programme in the world, having undergone several trials.
The GAA and the GPA are currently bringing this programme to clubs across the country which is having a positive impact in our communities by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting early intervention which contribute to building healthier, resilient, supportive communities.
