Congratulations to our U14's who were today crowned U14 Peil B County champions after beating Clonmel Og on a scoreline of 1-04 to 0-04 in Pairc Na Nog Thurles
This was a real tough encounter and despite the low score it was a real action packed game. Clonmel had the aid of a strong breeze in the 1st half and started strong registering 2 points before Brackens opened their account which came from Joe Bourke who got onto the end of a Brian Quinn free to slot over, Brian Quinn turned from provider to scorer for the next score after a well worked sideline ball from James Ryan resulted in Brian openning his account. Clonmel had the majority of possession in the first half but found Tom Bourke in the Brackens goal in great form as he pulled off some spectacular saves and was he well aided by Ned Walsh and Jamie Bergin who were solid in the full back line to have the score level at half time at 2 points each.
Our lads were probably the happier at the break as Clonmel had not not capitilised on the strong wind thanks to the hard work of Kevin Allen and Sean Collier , however it was Clonmel to open the scoring in the second half again. Brackens opening score in the second half came from a pointed free from Brian Quinn after Brian Bourke had a shot saved from the boot of the clonmel keeper and the resulting scramble resulted in a free. However Brian did get his chance a few mins later after our forwards put pressure on their kickouts and Brian Bourke got the all crucial and the games only goal. Our last point of the game would be a Brian Quinn free after Brian Bourke was brought down again. It was real backs to the wall for the final few mins as Clonmel tried hard to find a late goal but not for the first time found Tom Bourke and his back men impossible to pass and the lads hung on for a well deserved 3 point win. Captain Brian Quinn accepted the Feile B County final trophy from County Chairman Martin Bourke who complimented Tom Bourke for a great game before handing over the trophy.
