Well done to our Junior B footballers who got their County Championship campaign off to a winning start in Templetuohy this morning following a 2-13 to 3-5 victory over Thurles Gaels. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half the Cathedral Town boys got in for two early goals while Brackens fluffed a couple of great chances of their own. A Lorcan Roche goal just before the break gave Brackens a real boost to leave the half time score 2-2 o 1-4. A quick start to the second half saw the Gaels land 1-1 to put them five up and Brackens looked in trouble. The introduction of former Gaels player David O'Mahony at corner forward gave Brackens a great outlet and his two points were complimented by two more from Stephen Owens and one each from Brian Roche and Brendan Guider. A Stephen Owens major was the game changer as the Gaels wilted and closing points from veterans David Ryan and Paudie Bourke were added to by a lovely Martin Bergin point to give Brackens victory. In the other game in our group Clonmel's third team comfortably defeated Moyle Rovers fourth team.
