Another great night for our juvenile club as we advanced to both the A and C Mid U-14 football finals. Our second team ran out very comfortable 9-13 to 3-3 winners against a gallant Thurles Gaels side. A glut of early goals killed off the tie as Brackens led 5-5 to 0-2 at half-time. To the their credit the Gaels battled hard in the second half and were rewarded with three goals. It's turning in to a great year for the Peil bound boys so let's hope they can add another title in the coming weeks.

Well isn't it typical. 28 goals between them in the last two meetings and just as we anticipated another goal fest we only got one. It mattered little as Brackens played great stuff to advance to the final on a 1-8 to 0-5 scoreline. Playing Ned Delaney as an extra defender worked a treat as Brackens almost totally nullified the Moycarkey goal threat. And when they did get in on goal Stephen Touhy was there to deny them making a cracking save just before half-time at which Brackens led 0-5 to 0-3. Crucial moment. The lads dominated possession in the third quarter but only added a solitary point but then came the crucial burst. In the space of three minutes it was over as points from Cian Sheedy and Patrick Hickey were added to by a great team goal which was finished to the net by the very impressive Jamie Bergin. All in all it was an excellent team performance and they now go forward to meet the winners of the second semi-final between Durlas Og and Holycross which was also played tonight. No result yet.
