Disappointment in A Final
There’s an old saying “ When the ball is in the game is on”. Durlas Og certainly adhered to this in the A final as they hit Brackens for 2-2 in the opening 3 minutes. Many thought it was game over even at that early stage but not the boys on the field. The effort they put in to get back in the game was an absolute credit to them with goals from Jamie Ormond and Sean Purcell reducing the deficit to the minimum at the short whistle. The third quarter saw both defences on top and with 12 minutes remaining t’was all square (2-7 to 3-4). Brackens were getting the upperhand now but needed to hit the front. And but for some outstanding goalkeeping from James Woodlock they would have done just that. They were left to rue those missed chances as Durlas Og got the crucial lead score when they landed a major quickly followed by three minors and in the blink of an eye the boat had sailed. Two more majors in the dying embers saw Durlas Og run out 6-7 to 2-7 winners—a scoreline that did not reflect the fantastic battle that had taken place.
