Our Junior hurlers got their Mid Championship campaign off to a fine start in the Park this evening when they easily accounted for Thurles Gaels on a 2-26 to 2-8 scoreline. Early points from play from Joe Bergin, Shane Doyle and Paddy Delaney got the ball rolling with the Gaels keeping in touch with two pointed frees. Jack Kennedy then thundered into the game hitting seven points (4f) to leave us 0-12 to 0-5 up. However a major and a minor gave the Gaels hope before the short whistle. (0-12 to 1-6). It was all one way traffic in the second half though as Brackens hit a string of points coupled with goals from Joe Bergin and Dean McEnroe to leave the final score 2-26 to 2-8. Upperchurch and Boherlahan make up our group of four but note only the group winner goes through to the semi-final. Due to a high number of lop-sided matches in recent years the clubs agreed to put the four so called strong teams in one group with 3 advancing to the semi-final and the four perceived weak teams in the other group with the winner only advancing. Let's see how it pans out.
