Hard luck to our Junior B hurlers who came up just short in the local derby against hosts Killea on Sunday evening. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half Brackens built up a healthy interval lead of nine points (1-9 to 0-3) thanks in the main to the Roche brothers, Brian and Lorcan, who scored all the points. Nicky Maddens goal rounded off an excellent opening half. Things were quiet during the third quarter with Killea adding just three point to their tally but with the wind now blowing strongly towards town they were gathering momentum. A couple of Brian Roche frees kept Brackens out in front but once the all important goal arrived the men from the Hill made the final push and just had enough to spare. Final score : JK Brackens 1-11 Killea 1-13.
