Hard luck to our Senior hurling team who lost out to neighbours Loughmore in the Cahill Cup semi-final following extra-time in the Park last night. Brackens got off to a great start scoring six points in the opening eight minutes and led 0-8 to 0-3 after the opening quarter. Roles were reversed in the second quarter however with the concession of a number of soft frees bringing Loughmore back into the game leaving the teams tied on 12 points apiece. An early Loughmore major was cancelled out by Lorcan Roche but likewise Lyndon Fairbrother's bullet was matched by Loughmore's second green flag. Fairbrother's second goal matched 3 Loughmore minors before the same player landed a seventy with the last puck of the game to leave the sides tied ( 3-19 to 2-22 ). Extra-time was hard fought but scores were very scarce as the players tired with Loughmore eventually winning on a 2-26 to 3-20 scoreline.
