Well done to our Junior A hurlers who beat Upperchurch in the Ragg last night by the slenderest of margins to advance to the Mid semi-final. Backed by a slight breeze in the opening half Brackens built up a healthy 1-8 to 0-3 points lead at half-time. And when Paddy Delaney, Jack Kennedy and Tommy Brett got the opening three points of the second act Brackens looked home and hosed. But back came the 'Church with seven unanswered points to close the gap to four. A Shane Doyle free only provided short respite as a black and amber major followed by a minor reduced the lead to the minimum. Both sides traded two frees apiece in the closing minutes to leave Brackens ahead at the long whistle ( 1-14 to 1-13 ). We now go forward to meet Thurles Sarsfields in the semi-final.
