Well done to our Senior hurling team who had a fine 3-20 to 1-17 victory over Clonakenny in Templetouhy this afternoon. An early David O'Shea major settled Brackens but with Clonakenny deploying a sweeper scores from play were hard to come with Shane Bourke David O'Shea and Eoin Fitzpatrick grabbing our only points from play in a dour first half. The rest came from placed balls from the stick of Lyndon Fairbrother with the goal a fortuitous one from 6o yards. Credit to Darren Russell who made a great save from a penalty midway through the half. ( Half-time: 2-5 to 0-7). Again the early stages of the second half were tit for tat until Bunny made the long journey forward to bury a penalty in the top corner to effectively kill the game. Points from play from Shane Scully (2), Lorcan Egan (2), Shane Bourke, Paddy Cadell, Lyndon Fairbrother and Martin Delaney saw Brackens run out comfortable nine point winners. In the other group game Cashel defeated St. Mary's leaving Brackens as group winners on 5 points with Cashel taking the runner-up spot on 3 points. Our possible quarter-final opponents will be known following tomorrows games.
