Well done to our Senior hurlers who advanced to the Seamus O'Riain semi-finals for the third consecutive year when easily accounting for Ballingarry in today's quarter-final in Littleton. A heavy downpour right at the throw-in made for a messy opening quarter at the end of which four points were shared. But as the sun re-appeared Brackens also began to shine with Lyndon Fairbrother in fine form accounting for our opening 1-5, the goal a cracker following a great sally up the field by the outstanding Paddy Cadell. Neil Quinlan and Shane Scully added a point apiece from play with a Fairbrother free ending the first half scoring. ( 1-8 to 0-5 ). The match was over as a contest following the opening 11 minutes of the second act as Brackens hit seven unanswered points from Shane Bourke (2), Eoin Fitzpatrick and four more from Lyndon. Unfortunately for Lyndon he was rather unlucky to receive a straight red in the 47th minute as the game boiled over in the closing quarter. Brackens can certainly be proud of how they conducted themselves in the face of some terrible treatment from an out of control Ballingarry. Two long range Cathal Scully frees were added to from play by Shane Bourke (3), David O'Shea and Eanna McBride to leave the scoreboard reading 1-23 to 1-8 at the long whistle. Templederry beat Cashel by seven points to join ourselves, Mullinahone and Holycross in tomorrow evening's draw. Well done boys. Dan Breen is the other side of the last fence. Time to meet him.
