Congratulations to our Senior hurling panel and management team who will dine at the top table of Tipperary hurling in 2020 following an excellent second half recovery in Littleton this afternoon. A bit like the boys in Japan we had a disastrous opening half but unlike the oval ball brigade we found the calm to turn the ship around and sailed clear of muddy waters. Having hit this fence in the previous two years brought it's own pressures and nerves were inevitable. The concession of an opening minute goal to Eoin Kelly didn't help and Brackens never settled during the first act. Lyndon Fairbrother and Eoin Fitzpatrick opened our account with two points from play. Kelly and Fairbrother then twice traded points from placed balls before the Kickhams landed their second major to go six up after 16 mins ( 2-4 to 0-4). Two excellent Shane Doyle points from play reduced the deficit to four before Mullinahone hit four points in five minutes to go eight up. As it transpired the points from play scored by Paddy Cadell (1) and Shane Scully (2) in the closing three minutes of the first half would prove crucial later. Half-Time: 2-10 to 0-9. Seven down and in need of a boost it arrived in the shape of a Dean McEnroe goal in the 35th minute after great work by Shane Doyle. Suddenly the shackles were off and it was a total reverse of the opening half. Points followed from Fitzpatrick, Cadell, Doyle and the two Scully's before Bunny's rasper from the spot shaved the crossbar to bring matters level with twelve minutes to play. To be honest there was only ever going to be one winner from here on with Lorcan Egan and Dean McEnroe very dominant and another Cathal Scully long-range free was followed by points from play from Shane Bourke and a beauty from David O'Shea before Lyndon closed out the scoring with two pointed frees. Mullinahone had no answer to Brackens running game in the second half (1-11 to 0-4 ) as we ran out three point winners on a 1-20 to 2-14 scoreline. Remember the three points before half-time. So it's on to the Stadium on County Final day as we play curtain-raiser to the Dan Breen decider. The graph continues to rise. Big ball next weekend. Great times. Brackens Abu.
