Draw matches have certainly been the popular flavour over the last ten days with the club recording four in qucik succession. Beginning with Kildangan in the Stadium we followed up with a draw against Drom in the Minor hurling in the Ragg last Wednesday night. Sunday was no different with Kuba Beben's late double rescuing a point against Kilsheelan while last night in the Park it was the turn of Joe Bourke as he salvaged a point for our U-16 hurlers with the last puck of the match against Holycross.
U-16 Hurling
In an entertaining game there was very little between these side all the way through a well fought contest. Brackens statrted well with points from play from Michael Cahill and Joe Bourke while the Clonmore man also added 6 from frees. A goal for Holycross before the break gave them a four point interval lead (1-9 to 0-8) which they extended to five quickly after the re-start. A Paddy Hickey major got Brackens moving again and points from play from Bourke, Brian Quinn and Ned Walsh were added to by Tom Bourke's '65 to level matters with ten to go. The Abbey boys second green flag seemed to be the game breaker but Brackens finished strongly with three more from Bourke to leave the tie all square on a 1-17 to 2-14 scoreline.
