Saturday evening in the Park saw our Junior A hurlers chalk up an excellent win over a gallant Thurles Sarsfields side in a keenly contested game. David O'Shea got the ball rolling here with a point in the opening minute. Darragh Doyle hit some excellent frees before Jack Fogarty scored a good goal on ten minutes. He followed this with points from play in the 17th and 29th minutes while in between Jack Kennedy had an excellent finish to the top corner to leave the half-time score 2-9 to 0-12. Sars kept chipping away to keep the game honest but once Eoin Fitzpatrick bundled the ball over the line to land our third major the game was safe. Points from play from Adrian Bourke, Aidan Fogarty, Jack Kennedy, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Darragh Doyle and the very impressive Diarmuid Delaney left the final score 3-17 t0 1-17. There are two groups of four in the Junior A. The four strongest teams based on last years results are in one group from which three advance to the semi-finals while the four weaker teams contest the second group with the winner advancing to the semi-finals. This system was introduced in recent years as there had been far too many lop-sided matches in the group stages. Next up are Loughmore in Castleiney on Sunday evening at 6.30pm.
