Our County Senior hurling championship season came to an end in Nenagh today with a last-gasp draw against Roscrea which preserves our Senior status for 2021. While it was mathematically possibly for us to progress to the knockout stages should Kiladangan succumb to Drom, the North men put that option to bed before the short whistle. Roscrea began brightly with three points inside the opening 4 minutes while Lyndon Fairbrother landed two frees in reply. Another close-in free was tapped to Andrew Ormond who rattled the onion bag for the games only goal. Roscrea replied with three more to go ahead before another Lyndon free left it all square at the water break. The nip and tuck nature continued after the break with Shane Doyle's three excellent points from play being the feature of the second quarter. Another from Andy and two frees from Lyndon left us one up at the break. (1-9 to 0-10). The third quarter belonged to the North boys as they hit six points to our three (Lyndon 2f, Andy 1 ) to nose in front as we passed the elbow. Two more Lyndon frees were matched by Jason Fitzpatrick and a Luke Cashin point from play saw Roscrea go two up with the winning post in sight. A 65 from Lyndon and a peach from Lorcan Egan tied it up before Alan Tynan pounced on hesitancy in the middle of the field to land what looked to be the winner. But just as in 2019 Lyndon had the final puck of our championship season and the judge declared the result to be a dead heat.
