Hard luck to our minor hurling team who lost to the Sars in Templetuohy in last night's Mid semi-final. In what was always going to be a difficult assignment things started badly for Brackens. A surging run and shot from Paddy Creedon was brilliantly saved by Tom Bourke but Darragh Minogue gobbled up the rebound to net the opening goal after just twelve seconds. Stephen Cahill opened brackens acount after five minutes with a good point from play but despite playing with the breeze we had to wait twenty five mins for our next score - a 65 from Darragh Doyle. In the interim Minogue had bagged his second goal and Sars had moved on to 2-5. Doyle landed another free before Cahill set him up for our opening goal on the stroke of half-time to leave just five in it at the break. Joe Bourke gave Brackens a marvellous boost when he netted just thirteen seconds into the second half and we looked set for a great tussle. But the killer blow came just tewnty seven seconds later when Paddy Creedon hit the Blues third goal and ten minutes later they had tacked on four more points to push the lead out to nine and they game was over as a contest. Brackens never gave up though and further goals from Joe Bourke and Darragh Doyle left the final score 3-18 to 4-5. A big thanks to manager Darren Russell and his management team for all their work throughout a difficult Covid-19 campaign. Well done also to the players who put in a very strong effort. You are coming against some of the best young hurlers in the country and the more you play at that level the more you will improve. Brackens Abu
