Our Junior A hurlers lost out to Holycross tonight in our final group game. With both sides already qualified for the semi-finals they still served up a decent encounter though it lacked the usual championship tempo. The home side threatened to run away with things early on as they hit 1-3 without reply. But Brackens dug deep hitting five of the next six points to trail by just two at the water break (1-4 to 0-5 ) with the scores coming from Darragh Doyle (3f) David O'Shea and Eoin Fitzpatrick. Holycross got the next two to lead by four but three more frees from Darragh and one from play from Jack Kennedy left it all square at the break (1-6 to 0-9). It was tit for tat all through the second half before Holycross hit three of the last four points to seal a 1-15 to 0-15 victory. The winners of Moycarkey and Drom will become the third semi-finalist while the loser of that game will face Loughmore in the lone quarter-final. The semi-finals will be an open draw.
