The introduction of substitute Niall Bourke proved the difference in the Park on Sunday afternoon last as our Junior B hurlers advanced to the last four for the second year running. In a game that was generally tight Bourke landed 1-1 and earned a vital free which was converted by Paddy Delaney and that salvo ultimately proved the difference as Brackens ran out five point winners on a 2-16 to 3-8 scoreline. Two first half goals for Moycarkey had Brackens on the back foot but five frees from Delaney and a point each from play from Nicky Madden and Tom Deegan kept us in touch at the break. (2-3 to 0-7). The third quarter belonged to Brackens as points from Madden (2) and Eddie Bergin were added to by three Delaney frees. A fortuitous goal from Tommy Deegan saw us four up at the second water break (1-13 to 2-6). That lead was wiped out in two minutes as Moycarkey landed 1-1 before Bourke's introduction sealed the deal. The semi-final draw pairs us against Thurles Sarsfields. That game will be fixed at next Monday night's Mid board meeting while the second semi-final takes place under lights in Templetuohy on Saturday night next at 8pm between neighbours Killea and defending champions Gortnahoe/Glengoole.
