April 2022
Dear Member,
I am writing to you as Chairman to let you know what is happening in the club currently. The season is well underway both for juveniles and adults and nearly all teams have commenced training and are playing matches. We have a large number of players involved with Tipperary teams which means that those players have not been available for club games. We have two players currently on the County Senior football panel, one on the Senior hurling panel, one on the County U-20 hurling panel, four on the County U-20 football panel, two on the County minor football and and one on the County minor hurling panels. We also had players on the county juvenile development panels and our U-15 hurlers recently won the County Feile. This is the most representatives that the club has had on County teams and it bodes very well for the Club in the future.
The committee have management in place for all teams with the exception of the Junior B hurling team. We are actively looking for a manager and invite any persons interested to notify any committee member of their interest. You will recall that our Junior B team won last year's Mid championship.
We have a Development Committee in place to continue upgrading the facilities in The Park and Clonmore. The club was recently successful in obtaining a Sports Capital Grant of €150,000 to part fund these development works which will include, among other things, flood lights for the main pitch, erection of new boundary fencing, erection of new fixed position netting having removed the existing netting behind both goals and the removal of the existing Astro turf in both goals which will be replaced with 4G turf. The approximate cost of the works will be in the region of €260,000 which has to be paid in advance of the Grant money being paid. As you may be aware the Club raised €98,000 from the Campervan raffle and these monies will be used to part fund the development works. Unfortunately that leaves a shortfall which needs to be made up by further fundraising. In addition it costs approximately €120,000 every year to run the Club which is made up by membership fees to the Club, County Board draw and various fundraising initiatives that take place throughout the year including the 50/50 weekly draw. I would ask all members to consider joining the 50/50 draw online as the money goes directly to the Club. The draw also produces a winner every week. Due to Covid our normal fundraising activities such as card games, table quizzes etc have ground to a halt over the last two years and as a result we will need to increase our fundraising efforts this year.
We are very fortunate as a Club to have so many volunteers to assist with the teams and committees and I wish to thank them for all their work.
As the development work takes place I will be updating you as to its progress
Best wishes to all teams and members for the coming season.
Regards
Paddy Cadell
Chairman.
