Well done to our Senior footballers who have advanced to the Division One League final following a fine 2-16 to 1-8 victory over Ardfinnan at Pairc Shileain on Sunday. Played in miserable conditions Bracken's were in control from the off with Lyndon Fairbrother landing the opening point from play inside two minutes. Jack Kennedy goaled from a penalty and followed with a point from play before Ardfinnan landed their only score of the opening half with a point in the eight minute. Points from play from Fairbrother, David O'Shea, Conor Cadell, Neil Quinlan, Dean McEnroe and Cadell again, along with two Kennedy frees, saw Bracken's go in 1-10 to 0-1 up at half-time. Ardfinnan landed their second free to open the second half scoring before David O'Shea replied with his second point from play. Another Ardfinnan free brought them to three points in the 39th minute and they doubled their tally with a goal from play a minute later. Three more frees from the South men and a point apiece from play from McEnroe and Kennedy had Bracken's ahead 1-13 to 1-5 at the three-quarter mark. Adfinnan finally got their first point from play in the 47th minute but the match was well and truly over by then. Bracken's finished strongly with points from Cathal Scully and two from Kennedy along with a goal from Tom Murphy to leave the final score 2-16 to 1-8. The second semi-final between Clonmel Commercials and Ballyporeen, due to be played yesterday, was postponed and will take place next Saturday in Ballyporeen at 4pm. The final is due to be played on the weekend of June 18th/19th.
