Our Junior B hurlers played Moyne/Templetouhy in Clonmore on Tuesday night in Round 4 of the Mid Championship. Despite missing a number of regulars the first half was very evenly contested with Joe Bergin's early goal giving Brackens a solid start. Tuohy replied with a green flag of their own however and led by 1-5 to 1-3 at the quarter mark. Nicky Madden was in fine form from play and frees with Brian Roche, Padraig Murphy and Eoin Fitzpatrick also chipping in with points from play. Tuohy led by 1-11 to 1-9 with five first half minutes remaining. They landed 1-1 just before the break to leave Brackens trailing by six at the break. Against the wind and playing up the hill Brackens showed great heart in the opening stages of the second period and cut the lead in half with three points from Nicky Madden. A more youthful Touhy side regrouped however and regained control to eventually win by eight points on a 2-21 to 1-15 scoreline.
