Round 3 of the Mid U-19 A hurling championship took place in the Ragg on Wednesday evening as the boys took on Drom/Inch. In a contest that never really caught fire Brackens were always in control with Ciaran O'Shea, Joe Bourke and Jamie Ormond in good scoring form up front. Brackens led by 0-9 to 0-3 at the break with Drom only managing two points from play. They improved significantly after the break but Brackens still led by six (0-14 to 0-8) entering the final quarter. A goal and a point in the space of two minutes reduced the lead to two points with eleven minutes to go. Brackens smelt danger and with Senior player Luke Ormond outstanding at centre back, they raised the ante and three Jamie Ormond frees saw them complete a 0-17 to 1-9 victory. It was a fine team performance and sets them up nicely for a trip to Clonmore next Wednesday night to face Boherlahan/Dualla. Throw-in is at 7.30pm
