U-19’s pipped at the post.
Following Sunday’s defeat to Upperchurch, Dr. Morris Park provided the opportunity to get back on the horse as we took on the Sars in the U-19 A football Mid Final. Seeking revenge following their defeat to Brackens in last years inaugural final, Thurles got off to the better start and were 1-1 ahead inside eight minutes. Brackens had to wait five further minutes for their opening score which came courtesy of a Jamie Ormond point. Brackens fared better in the second quarter with points from Brian Quinn (2) and Shaun Jordan leaving them just a point behind at the break. (1-2 to 0-4). Michael Cahill landed two points in the opening three minutes of the second half before a Brian Quinn free has us in front for the first time. Sars replied with two points before a fine Killian Fennell point tied it up entering the last quarter. Scores were as rare as hens teeth from there to the finish with two excellent Liam McCormack 45’s proving decisive for Sarsfields with Brian Quinn landing a free in reply for Brackens. The greasy surface didn’t help the game but there was plenty of endeavour on both sides. The club would like to thank all the players and management for their efforts.
