Our Senior footballers have advanced to the Mid Final following their 0-13 to 1-6 victory over Drom/Inch in last night's semi-final. Despite torrential rain on Thursday night underfoot conditions in Dr. Morris Park were good. The game was only three minutes old when an injury to Kuba Beben caused the game to be delayed for several minutes while he received treatment. The clock said ten minutes when play resumed and another ten passed before Jack Kennedy landed the first score of the evening with a nice point from play. Four more followed in four minutes, three for Drom and one for David O'Shea to leave Drom one ahead. Colm Kinnane's black card in the 29th minute proved costly for Drom as Brackens hit a purple patch in his absence. Five points without reply courtesy of Eanna McBride, Lorcan Egan, Lyndon Fairbrother, Neil Quinlan (f) and Paddy Cadell left Brackens four up at the short whistle (0-7 to 0-3). The opening ten minutes of the second half was lively with the sides sharing six points, Cathal Scully, Jordan Moloney and Jack Kennedy (f) on target for Brackens. A Drom goal in the 41st minute made matters interesting but they failed to capitalize on a number of scoring opportunities and when Neil Quinlan got the chance from a free in the 47th minute he made no mistake to put us two up again. Drom lacked nothing in spirit and effort but they failed to add to their tally in the last twenty minutes. Jack Kennedy landed the last two points of the evening to leave Brackens four ahead at the full time whistle. Old enemies Loughmore/Castleiney will provide the opposition in the Mid Final which will take place next weekend. Best of luck to all.
