The round-robin section of the Feile took place on Saturday last. Team One were based in Killenaule where they opened with a 1-8 to 0-2 victory over the home side. Their second game was a dogged, low-scoring affair against Newport where Larry O’Brien’s late scrambled goal proved the difference in a 1-4 to 0-4 victory. The two wins ensured Bracken's progress to the semi-final ahead of their final game against Roscrea which the North side won by a point, 1-4 to 0-6. The lads now face Silvermines in the semi-final with Ballina taking on Newport in the other semi-final. Both of these games take place in Cappawhite on Sunday evening at 5pm with the final taking place at 6.15pm. A very young Team Two were stationed in Clonakenny in a group of three along with the hosts and Newport. A good 1-7 to 1-2 victory over Clonakenny in the opening game gave them a great boost ahead of their second game against Newport. However the North boys proved just too strong and recorded a 0-7 to 0-3 victory. But as Newport also defeated Clonakenny the boys advanced to a semi-final against Emly which was played in Kickham Park on Saturday afternoon. The West Tipp boys were much too strong for Brackens and advanced to the final. Despite the defeat the lads thoroughly enjoyed their experience and had a great day out.
