The games are coming thick and fast at the moment with plenty to keep us occupied. Our Junior B hurlers are away to Gortnahoe tonight at 7.30pm. With a win over Clonakenny and a loss to Killea they have three games left against Gortnahoe, Thurles Gaels and Thurles Sarsfields. There are six in the group with the top 4 advancing to the quarter-finals. Following two opening defeats our Junior A's bounced back in style last Sunday evening when they defeated Boherlahan by ten points. They play Moycarkey in the Park tomorrow evening (Sat) at 7.30pm. There are six teams in this competition with the top two advancing to the semi-finals and the remaining four playing two quarter-finals. Brackens currently sit in 4th place after three rounds. Our U-17 hurlers recorded their second win from three games with a comfortable 4-23 to 1-10 win over Gortnahoe on Monday night. They play Drom/Inch at the Ragg in their next game on July 31st. Our U-19 hurlers began their Mid campaign in Littleton on Wednesday night. They played second fiddle to the home side for fifty minutes but in a bizarre ending to the game goals from Ned Walsh (2), Bryan Bourke and Sean Purcell closed the gap to the minimum before Moycarkey hit the net with the final score of the night to finish 4-17 to 4-13 ahead. They play Holycross in Round 2 on August 2nd. The format for both the U-17 and U-19 championships is the same as the Junior A above. Our Senior hurlers will play Mullinahone in the opening round of the County Senior hurling championship on Sunday July 30th at 12.30pm in Cashel while the footballers will take on Moyle Rovers in Boherlahan the following Saturday evening at 7pm. Our Intermediate footballers will face Aherlow on the August Bank Holiday Monday at 2pm in Drombane. Following all the recent ground improvements Pairc Shileain is looking resplendent at the moment. Well done to all involved. A very central ground for County games the Park will be a hive of activity in the coming weeks with a number of high profile games already pencilled in. Keep an eye on fixtures for details. Our Twitter account is currently down so our apologies for no live updates over the weekend.
